Howard Larry Mohler, 78, of Sterling, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at
Select Specialty Hospital in Akron after a brief illness. He was born in
Wadsworth on April 25, 1944 to the late Howard Earl and Isabelle Clara
(Allen) Mohler and married Cheryl A. Pease on July 31, 1965. He served in
the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 – 1971 and he retired from
Thiele-Kaolin Clay in 2007 after 19 years of service. Larry and Cheryl had
made their home in Sterling for the past 48 years and he was a member of
the Sterling United Methodist Church and the Gold Wing Roadriders. A former
member of the Sterling K of P Lodge, he had also been active with the
DeMolay. Larry played guitar since the age of five and he was a member of
"The Messengers" Christian Rock Band. He loved motorcycles, 4-wheelers and
anything with a motor and he enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Spending
time with his family is what he most enjoyed and he will be forever missed.
Surviving is his wife, Cheryl; children, Christine Sweigert, Michael Scot
Mohler and Lisa Ann and her husband, Troy Andrukat; son-in-law, Brian
Sweigert; grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas Sweigert, Mackenzie Moore,
Seth Hunt and Maddie Mohler and Jared, Emily, Logan and Gavin Andrukat;
great-grandson, Jace Sweigert and sisters, Marcia (Alan) McGrew, Julie (Ron)
Scuderi and Jolene (Bruce) Longfield. He was preceded in death by his
parents, a daughter-in-law, Kristin Mohler and a brother, Daniel.
Burial services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, June 8th at
2:45 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
